Site Preparation & Grading

Site Preparation & Grading in Bozeman

Before a foundation, slab, or building pad can go in, the ground has to be shaped to the engineer’s plan and compacted to hold the load. Iedafrica handles the full sequence for Gallatin County sites, from topsoil stripping and cut and fill through rough grade to finish grade, and we back the result with a written workmanship warranty. Pad elevations, drainage slopes, and a stable subgrade all get documented before we call it done.

Why Graded Ground Has to Be Guaranteed

Grading is the earthwork you cannot inspect once the concrete is poured, which is exactly why we put it in writing. A pad that settles or a slope that sends water back at a foundation is expensive to chase later. We compact structural fill in controlled lifts to a 95 percent Proctor density and record the number, so a lot near Oak Street carries its load the way the plan intended.

Our Process

We strip and stockpile topsoil, move cut to fill to balance the site, then rough grade to within tolerance of the design. Positive slopes are set to carry water away, silt fence goes in to meet stormwater rules, and the subgrade is compacted and tested. You get the grading plan met and the density documented before the next trade shows up.
